A breed with a name that indicates that it is a Dutch breed. Yet it was not the Dutch breeders who created this checkered animal, but the honor comes to the English breeders, since they were the ones who bred from the so-called Brabant-colored bunnies, destined for the English restaurants, The Dutch Rabbit. In all countries of the western hemisphere, this attractive variety comes under the name, which means translated into Dutch, Dutch or Dutch rabbit. The requirements regarding the drawing are virtually the same. The biggest difference with the other countries is the English standard, which was later passed on by the breeders of the United States of America, namely the white-colored neck, which is highly appreciated as a "clean neck". The Dutchman is generally very fertile and therefore has big nests. It is a small variety that grows easily and is therefore suitable for fattening. Often, Hollander are also used to cross them with other meat production varieties, this to get a compact slaughter rabbit.
The weight of the Hollander is about 2.5 to 3.5 kg.
